Philosopher and supporter of Palestinian freedom, Gilles Deleuze once said that «art is what resists: it resists death, servitude, infamy, and shame». To accompany the closure of the Bergen Assembly and the Communist Museum of Palestine’s d-school in Bergen, our last conversation will be coordinated with Gaza-based Dahaleez Collective as well as artists Rana Batrawi and Shareef Sarhan to think the unthinkable obliteration and imposed forms of death as well as what resists, persists against all of that, against the Nakba.
Dahaleez Collective is formed by a group of artists and researchers from Gaza. They focus on deconstructing the temporal and spatial realities of the Palestinian people, examining their tools and choices through analytical and reconstructive methodologies. These methods explore the general influences on existing social and political patterns under siege and occupation. Their workshops, reflective meetings, joint productions, and various creative exercises serve as pathways to explore future possibilities and seek multiple avenues toward liberation on several levels.
Shareef Sarhan (b. 1976, Gaza) is visual artist and photographer. He is a founding member of Shababeek for Contemporary Art and a member of the Association of Palestinian Artists. Sarhan received his diploma in Art. He participated in Darat Al Funun academy in Jordan. He received the Bronze award of the Festival of Arab Photographers in 2008 and the recognition award in 2007. Sarhan produced a Picture Book "Gaza Live", His work was exhibited in Gaza, Ramallah, Jerusalem, Amman and the United States, France, Germany and Italy.

Batrawi works primarily with sculpture and relief. Drawing from Gaza’s rich cultural and archaeological heritage, her projects explore themes of memory, heritage, and resilience. Batrawi has been empowering Palestinian women and children through sculpture workshops.
