We understand listening as a critical practice, an active
practice that develops and enhances awareness. Listening,
understood as a point of departure for relational processes and as a point of departure for a conversation for oneself and with others. Countless stories, relationships, and social structures overlap in spaces, informing and shaping
them. Some are loud and blatant, while others are harder to find. In this workshop, we will use embodied methods to follow traces. We will look for stories and connections beyond those that are obvious. We will develop tools and starting points for complex negotiation processes that confront and nourish this polyphony.
Fem_Arc collective is a Berlin-based collective of architects working on projects from an intersectional angle. Since 2018, they have been critically examining power structures in space and the intersection of individual experiences of discrimination due to gender, race, economic status, ability, queerness, religion and others. Through formats such as talks, workshops, a podcast series, and audio walks they question norms and standards in their field and propagate spatial strategies that contribute to the production of non-discriminatory spaces.
Sofya Markova is an architect with a master's degree from Bergen Arkitekthøgskole. Her interdisciplinary projects focus on shifting environments, intertwining artistic research with critical mapping, storytelling with the emergence of form.
