‘Holding Space for Conversations’
as part of the BAS Trajectory ‘Architectures of Migration’
at ROMMET, USF.

Guest & Co-host: Elke Krasny

Bergen School of Architecture presents a weekly Trajectory programme at ROMMET, as well as events at Northing — Centre for East Asian Art and Culture. It evolves throughout the autumn to open up new lines of enquiry, and features lectures, workshops, performances, and conversations that extend BAS’s electives into the wider community.

Gathered around the dinner table, we will together be holding space for conversations. Conversations put into words, thoughts and feelings. Holding space for conversations makes heard and shared the many ways of seeing the world from different directions. At the same time, it lets our differences breathe. As we focus our conversations on care, solidarity, and resistance, we will turn to thinkers like Lola Olufemi, Aruna D’Souza, and Sara Ahmed for inspiration and collective reflection. Around the table, their thoughts are present, shaped into quotes. We will read their quotes and use them as prompts for conversations. As we listen to our neighbors at the dinner table, our placemats become a space for holding what we hear and feel. We will take notes on the placemats to capture threads of our conversations. Our placemats will become our manifestos of care, solidarity and resistance.
