ROMMET
ROMMET is a bar, concert venue, and club. Founded by Isak Steen-Olsen Teigland and Ingebrigt Ryland Røyrane with friends in 2022, ROMMET has moved and evolved through different locations in Bergen. Today it finds its home in Kjødehallen at USF — a former shipbuilding yard and a space shaped by many layers of ownership, history, and collective contribution.
Kjødehallen itself is undergoing a gradual transformation from an industrial site into a cultural venue. As part of this change, design-and-build interventions made by the Builders Hut studio from Bergen School of Architecture offered new, flexible ways of inhabiting and using the hall. ROMMET’s presence in Kjødehallen is part of an evolving conversation about how spaces in Bergen can be reimagined to become more open and accessible to a wider range of cultural actors.
ROMMET is a living, dynamic meeting place for young adults in Bergen — a site for concerts, food, dancing, conversation, learning, and collective making. As a platform for artists, organisers, and creative practitioners, it supports collaboration and new impulses locally, nationally, and internationally. By inviting visitors to become participants and contributors, rather than mere guests, ROMMET embodies the spirit of shared space-making that defines Kjødehallen today, helping to build a more diverse and vibrant cultural landscape for Bergen.
